Top Tips in Taking Photos to Consider

Most of us have cameras but very few amongst us are expert photographers and feel disheartened when we look at the photos we have shot and think what else could have I done to make this look perfect. Something just seems to be a little off. Well following a few simple and easy tips could transform not so good snapshots into beautiful photographs.

The first and the most important tip to be followed that could greatly transform snapshots is to make sure that the background of your photo doesn't struggle for a lot of attention. Most of the time, photographers pay too much attention to the main subject of the photo without giving enough thought as to what is going on in the background and often, the background really affects the appearance of the main subject.

Second is the proper use of flash. The flash when not used outdoors during the daytime results in photos with dark and featureless faces. This happens because your subject is standing between you and the sun which is a bright source of light. So when the camera meters the exposure, it decides that it has to make the scene darker in order to be correctly exposed and that results in your subject's faces being dark and almost impossible to differentiate. Today’s almost all digital cameras come with a little built-in pop-up flash unit that enables you to light up your subject even though the camera may be metering for the bright light source.

Using proper zoom and taking close-ups photos of some subjects is also important. One of the biggest mistakes that many photographers make is to leave too much space above the head, left and right sides of the subject. This usually affects the quality of the photo and this could be improved by zooming in a little bit closer on focus on their subjects and eliminating all unwanted parts of the picture.

Another tip that could transform your photos to beautiful photographs is to keep the subject slightly off-centre in either direction. A natural reaction of most people is in keeping the subject in the centre of many snapshots and this is a big reason for photos losing their attractiveness.

A common feature found among many amateur photographers is that they seem to use their camera in only one way. Most often it's the horizontal plane that is used. But many pictures would look attractive if they are shot by turning the camera in a different direction. So it’s the photographer who has to do the thinking and decide how good and attractive the scene would look if shot horizontally or vertically.

The above tips and suggestions are simple and easy to follow. If these tips are practiced on a regular basis, one is surely going to be amazed by the results of the photos produced.
